The concept of Bijoux Perdus was born in 2016, inspired by a French quote (often attributed to Paul Valéry): "Les bons souvenirs sont des bijoux perdus." which I came across with in Michael Bond's book, 'Monsieur Pamplemousse Takes the Train'. Here is the related excerpt:

 "...‘All good things come to end,’ said the tour leader. ‘But we return home with good memories.’

 ‘You must take care of them,’ said Monsieur Pamplemousse. ‘In France, we have a saying: Les bons souvenirs sont des bijoux perdus – Good memories are lost jewels.’

 He looked towards the station entrance, but Caterina and her friends had long since disappeared.

 ‘Nice girl,’ said the man.

 ‘Very,’ said Monsieur Pamplemousse ..."

Over the years, the name remained, but as the website evolved, so did my perspective on the role of photography in understanding the world. Rather than solely preserving memories, I began to explore the broader contexts of my experiences.
